Things to know about Sun..

In 2007, my wife Sun released a music video of the hit single “China Wine,” the result of a creative collaboration with Reggie wunderkind, Wyclef Jean. That video garnered a lot of attention on YouTube with more than two million hits over a dozen fan sites [KK to verify]. It has received rave reviews from industry insiders as well as kids who love dance pop the world over. Not surprisingly, the video also raised quite a few eyebrows among the religious fraternity who felt it is inappropriate for a Christian to be featured in a dance video.

Although Sun is married to me, she herself was never formally ordained as a minister. She never felt gifted to have a pulpit ministry. But since Sun was a child, she had participated in many singing contests and won quite a few of them. As a preacher’s wife, Sun functioned faithful from behind-the-scenes as my helpmate, and became an effective counselor and choir singer in the church.

At the turn of the millennium, as I began to formulate my doctrine on the Cultural Mandate to get my generation to come out of isolation and engage the marketplace, I challenged Sun to help me embody that message. In 2002, she launched her new career in Taiwan as a pop singer. Since then, she has done very well with more than four million units sold, five multi-platinum records, and over 30 number one songs in five different countries. Today, she is known in the Far East as a bona fide singer, entertainer and humanitarian.

From her royalties, she has built eight schools, one orphanages, two medical centers, one community services, and one charity foundation. Through her connections, she has helped to raise funds for three other orphanages, one hospital and one rehabilitation clinic. [WL, verify again.] For all these humanitarian achievements, she was awarded the Top Outstanding Young Person of the World in 2003, and became the Ambassador of the Children’s Foundation in China since 2005. In 2007, she sang the theme song for the Special Olympics in Shanghai, and last year, she sang the 2008 Olympic Anthem during the pre-game launch in Beijing. The unchurched loves Sun and view her as an exemplary model to the youths of society.

Yet, in spite of all her secular and creative achievements, many conservative pastors find it hard to imagine Sun in any role outside of church ministries. But the reality is that she is no longer a church staff or a gospel singer. She doesn’t work for any religious organization.
As a professional singer, Sun has to take on many dramatic stage personas. That is what entertainers do. In the “China Wine” video, she happens to be acting one such role. Fiction must be separated from fact. I think the struggle many pastors have is the difficulty to separate her association with me (as my wife) and her career as a singer. I agree that if she is a “pastor” or “preacher,” perhaps the video would have been inappropriate. But Sun is not a pastor. She is an entertainer. All her music videos are not produced by the church but by her secular music label, the company she is working for.

“China Wine” is a short film about a girl who has to work an extra job at a nightclub to make ends meet for her family. Some pastors immediately took offense at the club scene and sexy dancers around her. As for her costumes, she wore gym clothes which was not inappropriate for the set she had to act in. At the end of the music video, she caught her boyfriend cheating on her in the night club and confronted him in Chinese. If you understand her words, they were neither crude nor profane at all. She basically shouted at the guy, “Hey, what are you doing with this mistress?” Unfortunately, the video translator subtitled that as “Hey, what are you doing with this b****?” That final b-word caused quite an uproar among pastors, who condemned her for uttering profanities. A few of them wrote me angry emails calling Sun a “whore,” “hooker,” and in other nastier, derogatory terms. Some say she is promoting free sex and immorality. But any intelligent, objective viewer would know that the whole drama is not about sex, and if anything, to portray the reality of a fallen secular world.

All these storms in a tea cup set me thinking: Are Christians living a sanitized life? Why have “Christian” productions been so ineffective in reaching not only the unchurched, but even believers don’t want their products?

In the book, Eyes Wide Open: Looking For God in Popular Culture, by William D. Romanowski, the author talks about a 1993 survey which reported that over 80 percent of all churchgoing Christians also go to the movies. When they were asked what they think about Christian movies, TV productions and Christian Contemporary Music, these were what they say:

1. Christian popular arts are inferior imitations as compared to mainstream culture. To many, Christian music is substandard guitar pop and happy-clappy lyrics about Jesus. This is not surprising as many Christian artists feel that their main job is to preach the gospel and proclaim the faith. As such, artistic quality or creativity is not so important. But what they forget is that when people go to a movie or buy an album, their first desire is to be entertained. If they want to be preached to, they would have gone to a church!

2. Christian popular arts are unrealistic, sanitized versions of the real world. Some reviewers even use the phrase “wholesome shallowness” to describe them. Christian entertainment has come to mean movies and music appropriate for “family-only” audiences. That basically means kids-oriented programs or old-time TV reruns for senior citizens. Are Christians that naive and immature that we can’t handle the reality of our real world?

As early as 1916, Hollywood has already discovered that 60 percent of theater owners wanted pictures that portray the real world—even if they contained some violence, sex and money. This is because moviegoers want films that artistically and honestly address the issues of life. And when Christian pop arts are sanitized, what happens next is …

3. Christian popular arts are limited in content and purpose. If you listen to most CCM, you would think that all Christians do is worship and evangelize 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But people in general, Christians and non-Christians alike, don’t want to be preached to 24/7. They want a pop culture that is fun, entertaining, artistically good and innovative. They are also concerned with the issues of life—being addressed with artistic flair.

Everybody knows the trials and temptations of day-to-day living. We are not immune to problems and tensions. We are concerned about love and relationship, life and health, career and finances, the global economy and politics, war and peace, and our future. We are all trying to understand why things happen the way they do and how to live our lives properly. Pop culture helps us to navigate through all that.

People get inspired and moved by U2, the biggest band in the world now. Their music captures a sense of religious longing and the struggle of living in a world torn by war, injustice and poverty. The Matrix speaks of an invisible world behind our natural world. Schindler’s List (rated R) touches on courage, sacrifice, the dealing with racism. CHC member, Jack Neo, is probably the best movie director in Southeast Asia today. His films, I Not Stupid I and I Not Stupid II, were box office hits regionally because they realistically deal with the pressure of the rat-race in an Asian society.

Moviegoers cried buckets in theaters over these powerful songs and films. They may be secular, but people get touched by such films more so than most Christian productions. If Christian pop culture is artistically inferior, sanitized to a point that it is unrealistic, and limited in its content and purpose, then is there any surprise that when surveys were done, even churchgoers are not excited about them? No wonder Christian popular arts have a difficult time selling their products beyond small church book tables.

The beautiful truth is that God is not against pop culture. There is a section of the Old Testament known as “The Writings,” covering books like Psalms, Job, Proverbs, Songs of Solomon, Ecclesiastes and Lamentation. Honestly, aren’t they all popular songs, dramas and musicals of biblical times?

Psalms are songs of frustration, regret and anger, yet sung with love to a sometime hidden God. Isn’t that like most songs on the Billboard Chart?
Job deals with the sufferings of life, and the desire to find meaning through them. Isn’t that like the Korean TV serial __________________?

Proverbs deal with the danger of shortcuts, the snares of temptation, and the rewards of honesty. Isn’t that just like the cartoon series The Simpsons?

The Songs of Solomon is about obsession with love and the sensual. Just turn on pop radio and we have our modern-day Songs of Solomon being broadcasted 24/7.

Ecclesiastes deal with the weariness of daily living in an imperfect world. Isn’t that portrayed in movies like ______________?

Lamentations deal with grief. When one listens to most of Eric Clapton’s songs, aren’t they dealing with grief?

Like the Old Testament writings themselves, pop culture is the collective wisdom of our generation. Popular arts explore social injustice, songs of sorrow, and even tributes to women. Like the Book of Esther, they may not even mention the name of God. Like Ecclesiastes, they suggest that in this life, bad things do happen to good people. Or like the Songs of Solomon, they may celebrate romance and sex. These songs and movies may not have a salvation purpose but nonetheless, they still offer us with essential comfort and wisdom for living. As such, pop culture represents a powerful means of communicating to us what the real world is like and how to live in it.

Can you remember John the Baptist questioning the authenticity of Jesus’ ministry when he heard about Jesus’ ministry style? Jesus had become widely known as a friend of sinners, tax collectors, prostitutes and drunkards. He was even going to parties and events that the Pharisees themselves wouldn’t set foot in. John was concerned that Jesus was becoming worldly, immoral and compromising, a bad example to the disciples. Our Lord’s reply to him was simply this: “Look at my fruits. Look at how the gospel is preached. ‘And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me’” (Matt. 11:6). The Greek word for “offended” is scandalizo, which means “to trip up, stumble, or be enticed to sin.” I would say the same to those who may be offended by Sun.

The purpose of the “China Wine” music video is not meant for a church event. Neither is it ever intended to be an evangelism tool or a gospel music video. It is simply pop entertainment. People watching the video and regarding it as just that will never get offended or stumbled, which explains the millions of hits and tens of thousands of good reviews on YouTube.

So to the religious and conservative who have used nasty, derogatory and expletive terms to describe her, my part shot are the words of Jesus Christ from Matthew 21:31, “I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.”

it's important to know why Sun did what she did. it's not easy to be a celebrity and living our the message as a symbol of love and light for all. despite all the discrimination and accuses.. our heroine stands tall and steadfast.. commited to the vision of the church. Let's model after our great leaders!

Hello my dear W116 peeps...

As I'm having vacation, I'll be planning all sorts of activities for the Cell Group to cultivate a momentum for exercise and keeping fit and healthy..

1st up, this fri which is the 11 Sep, we'll be having Badminton at NTU, 1845-2015.. Hope to see you guys there..

And also another thing is that Vic has kindly suggested that maybe, by GOD's grace and blessings, we could go BATAM for holiday, by then, Elaine will be back together with us.. =D

I've kind of check some of the prices, if we will to stay for 1 night, the cost is about $100. If u can, do save up to $200-$250.. This BATAM plan is still on the process of planning, we will either go this year end or next year..

And another thing, CHRISTMAS is just 3 months away, please do save some money.. I believe this year will have gift xchange too.. Let's get geared up and anticipate the arrival of CHRISTMAS!! *jungle bells, jungle bells* =D

John and me, were water baptized on 30 Aug 2009. This marked a VICTORY in both of our lives. And I would take the boldness to shout, WE ARE WARRIORS OF GOD!
Heaven is open, new lives are here, and we are ready, to give whatever it takes to please our Heavenly Father! To be the LIGHT and SALT!

Friends, thanks again for your love and support. God is amazing, Water Baptism is amazing, and you are the MOST amazing friends in our lives.

just had a great CGM today! :) im so happy with all the testimonies i hear today in cg. isabelle from the 4th top insurance sales agent in bank has risen to 2nd! and Lyn... was given more important responsibilities to take care of... qihui being able to find ntu room (alot of drama... for finding this place... urgh... she terrorise me enough) , Shella having a good break from her busy schedule.. yuan jun getting scholarship bonuses and His spirtitual walk getting better and better!!

wow. The grace of God is here!

today i just wanted to have a prayer cg... but i began sharing abt being a family in church.

you know lately i hear alot of times... cg is a commitment.... i cant connect with pple... everyone's in their own world. only some pple can do this .. some can do that. i prefer to visit other groups. i want to serve in cg if i feel i am feeling ok..

But can i propose to you? : Cell group is a family!

We do not come cell group because... there are 5 blessings of fellowship. or serve because there are 10 benefits of leading worship. in fact! our head-knowledge that we know through the years as a christian can puff us up.. and it becomes pride! it is not just a place of chit chat... and hang around with pple u like to have fun. every week there is a divine appointment we made with God. God schedules it in His planner... and He gets ready when he knows that His people are gathering to meet Him. or when we are gathering to do something that glorifies His name. even a simple dinner.... if done with joy and edification.. builds up our cell group.. and the body of Christ.

Paul says to the Cor church : let everything done be done with edification... esteeming one another. This is what our group is for. We grow to be more than conquerors by interceding one another... and praying for one another. Even in the most inconvenient time.. we inconvenient ourselves to show care.

to me.. i feel it all begins with how you see this cg as your family. have you made this house. w116 your family?

or are you a cruiser? cruising to better ships all the time?

The cell group is a place for christians who love God.... who are serious in God to come together as one.... to seek God and His kingdom 1st. a group who treasures relationship... as if they are like pearls. it's a place that i learn... dreams are realise. mistakes made can be a learning groud for improvements. and at the end of the day. we are linked by the spiritman together.

there is no perfect tent to dwell in. only a perfect God that we serve. and a family that shelters.

My SOT experience

I'm feeling a bittersweet loss after SOT. Its been a tiring, trying, challenging, and tiring (yes tiring again) 5 months of SOT. I can remember the beginning just as if it happened yesterday, but now, its over.

Now that I've graduated, I found that I suddenly don't have....

Stress and intensive use of time for the past 5 months. There was never a moment I was "free". I was busy reading the assignment books, or reading the bible, or giving tuition, or catching up on sleep, or completing my FYP, or journeying to give tuition, or doing my usher stuff, etc. I only remembered I had only One saturday when I had completely no tuition to do and I could do stuff that ministered to me (ie sleeping). Today, other than tuition, I can actually afford to take an evening nap and stay up till 4am (no need to wake up at 7 to get to SOT!)

I am also reeling because...

Suddenly, I don' t need to fulfill the other requirements of SOT anymore.. makeup for girls! Rather prophetically, my packet of makeup remover tissues was used up yesterday. I don't need to wear anymore makeup if I don't want to. But I guess, I think I will still continue wearing makeup when going to church. These 5 months have changed me to see that I can actually look very much better when I wear makeup, and improved my self confidence too.

I miss.....

The fellowship of the saints. We have an indian pastor in our team. On the last school day, we went out for a time of fellowship, and he shared with us and preached to us his revelations from the Word of God. I would so dearly miss his simple sharing and preaching to us! 3Ps and 3Rs of the Samaritan woman, 3Ps of Joseph's life, etc. We also have a worship leader in our team. He had sung before crowds of 100 000 before. Unthinkable. Yet he's like one of the cutest, nicest, humblest guys in our team, with a great smile! I'll miss his singing. I'll miss the early morning smses from concerned team mates, "hey have you reached?" and I'll miss the good natured ribbing of a certain concerned married teammate, "how come no guys chase you?!", "i'm rooting for you!", "the guys must be blind!".

I miss.....

The bible studies, every day we're filled with the Word of God and learnt some new things. I've amazingly completed the whole course of bible studies, without sleeping for the large part of it due to an amazing discovery of super sour sweets. Considering that sometimes I didn't study for exams because of lack of time, or I was so tired that I just want to complete the exam paper so that I could spend the remaining time sleeping, I passed everything with flying rainbow colours, 9As, 3Bs, that's a crazily good result.

I miss.....

The great books that are part of our syllabus that are so addictive and inspiring etc. I enjoyed the books that are part of our assignments, most of the time it is more of an enjoyment than chore-ish work to read them.

I miss.....

The immense spiritual warfare and pressure upon me during mission trip. 23 people were supposed to come, led by a capable leader while I was just a helper. Then the devil struck, and just like that, 5 people, including the leader, could not go on with us. The baton was thrown to me, and I had to assume the responsibility of leadership. It was actually leadership for 1 day (the other day was play-day), but the load was tough on me, because I was reeling from past leadership scars and problems, and it just seems that all the decisions I made didn't get through etc. really tough. But here I am, I survived to tell the story. And I still want to go for more mission trips!

Last but not least, I'll miss the special touch of God in the place, for the n-th time we consecrate our lives and give our lives fully unto the Lord, but every time that happens, tears of the touch of God flow and flow. We can never give enough of our lives to our God who gave His life for us.

As a chapter ends, a new chapter unfolds. Thank you all, my dear cg, for all your support and love. I'm looking forward to living out the Word that has been invested in our lives these 5 months, a life that reflects the glorious God that made all these possible. Praise God! Thank God for what He has done!

14:00 john and special quest - emil join group. ate at funan food court. john detest kfc due to overconsumption of it during NDP practises.

15:30 ben got off police duty. join us together. went to see guitars at penisula.

18:00 bros wondered ard. some felt hungry.. go kfc grab some bites. john ate kfc eventually.

18:30 walked to paradiz. started our long-awaited lan gaming. 2 teams.. 3 v 3. ben and chong very excited. fight the good fight... and we had our fun.

21:30 went to eat famous chicken rice near paradiz. (see above pic). it was delicious

3. Pray that W116 will continue to grow in strength, in love and in unity. Every member will take ownership of the CG and be strong pillars. New friends will come and be integrated!
4. Pray for all my family members’ health to be good.
5. Last but not least, I can find another part-time job with much better pay so that I can self-support totally! 

(YUANJUN)
1. To keep my fire for God and people! Stay strong and hunger for His Word, to gain new revelations through these 2 months.

It's been a pretty fun packed week! With Elaine back and all.. The feeling's really different. :) It's like a home-coming feeling to me as a cell group! :) Everyone's unsually excited...

even as everyone's busy.. it's good to catch up or Chill! on sunday when we gather! :) simply great! Even as Elaine is back... i feel it's like a great motherly fren coming back to see if we are good! ultimately .. when she goes away... it just feels it's a period where the kids in the cg has to learn to grow up to be GREAT men and women of God... that face 'life' and bring changes to 'life' itself. Haa.. i am saying pretty sentimental stuffs now... =/

nevertheless, on anther topic ...

If you notice nowadays our church is focusing alot on bridging relationships... on the very basics of building strong lasting relationships with God and people. Pastor Chee Kiang has been speaking very much on this topic recently. That if you want to see changes in your life : Don't forget your relationship with Christ!!

After hearing the Ps Kong's sermon today... it really affirms that. We can be busy all our lives.. achieving things... yet we lose the fire of God in our lives. We could also fall into another extreme .. where we lock ourselves up and seek God seek God... and we are not willing to 'work' and produce fruits of Faith by our labour. But esentially.. all these things... all of it comes from a relationship with God. When we Pray, Praise, Hunger for it, and build up the unity of the group. Essentially it's going to be an exciting journey.... but it comes when your tell yourself " God.. i want you more than yesterday" it's a deep .. deep and deeper love...

God's knocking at the doors of our hearts. but frens.. we can choose to ignore and care less abt it.. walk out own way. it's a simple queit with God. the most diffuclt thing for Singaporeans. but essentially the most powerful thing we could do in our life is at our prayer closet! Let's live life to fullest of our dreams.. as we hold dear our relationships with God and the right frens... press on! :)

Anyway guys.. the Malaysian Fellowship Group that join us are all Medical Students studying in Moscow. Check out their website.. It's really an honour to know them.. they are very hungry for God... and some of them told me they really want to make a difference in life.

Spiritual Atmosphere--19/07 Service

--It's great to be in the House of God again.

3 weeks' break at home was incredible, while I also realized that it brought emptiness into my heart, spiritually. I'm still not a matured Christian, I think, thus I need to be fed with my 'food', regularly.
Thank God, Ps. Kong and many pastors are always there 'feeding' me.

Today, talking about 'Spiritual Atmosphere', Ps. Kong impressed and touched me deeply with his preaching.

It's easy to be a 'Christian', at the same time, it is really hard to be a Christian, a Christian that can build and carry spiritual atmosphere in daily life.
Yes, it's indeed hard. But I am always proud of being a Christian, being His child and disciple. Thus I will and I must always give my all to follow His wills, to please Him and to make Him proud of me.

There will be sacrifices, there will be challenges, there will be sufferings, and I am going to take all these, to fuel up my burning FIRE for the LORD, continuously, together with the harvest God gives me.
Until there comes the day, I come before Him, peacefully, smiling, saying: 'Father, I love You. And I have not let You down.'

1). Pray for my 3 exam papers that I can do well in them:

24th June: Accounting, Decisions and Accountability

30th June: Organizational Behaviour

1st July: Macroeconomics

2). Pray that I can find a good paying part-time job in Adelaide.

3). Pray that Victoria, Yuan Jun and myself will have journey mercy as we travel to Boston, China and Singapore respectively.

4). Pray that W116 & EC zone will continue to grow in size, strength and depth.

1) I pray that I would spend more quiet time and also be disciplined in bible study time with God every day.

12/06-Last Day of Morning Prayer Meeting

--I am not gonna complain about my life, which is given and planned by my LORD.

Hehe, praise the Lord, I stepped into church auditorium punctually, peacefully, cheerfully on this last day of June's MPM.
I am indeed grateful to God and proud of myself through this week's MPM. All by God's grace, I woke up everyday early and cheerfully, did not need to force myself to go; I never missed a single MPM, attended most sessions punctually; and after MPM, I still had enough energy to work everyday. And of course, what is most important is that I did receive certain revelations and felt my spirit being strengthened greatly by God. Only with God, all these things can be done.

1 thought came to me and here I shall take it down.

Jesus is the Truth, still Jesus suffered so much, for us, for me.
I, being a child of God, always pray to God that I can find the Truth, that I can seek Jesus. But, in my heart, I just don't have the kind of willingness to accept and endure the sufferings as Jesus did for us.
Oh, how immature my faith is. How much more there is for me to grow up in the Kingdom of God.
Yes, LORD, everything in my life, let it be done according to Your will. Any sufferings that are for Your sake, I will give my all to accept and endure them peacefully. In my life, I am not gonna complain about my life, complain about even very small things, because my life is given and planned by You, my LORD.

I continued to pray for Shi Fu, Grace and Xiu Wen during this MPM.

Shi Fu, you are a truely great 'Shi Fu' in my eyes. The way you talk, do things, the love and faith you have, the good characters you possess, all of them I appreciate so much. I can always find the right way of doing things from how you do them; I can always feel the peace you have in your life. Shi Fu, I pray, everyday, you will live a better life than yesterday. I pray great joy comes upon you, in God's kingdom, in your family, in your work, in every area of your life. And of course, I believe, at a good time, God will come, bless you tremendously with not only one, but maybe two or even more beautiful children to your life.
Shi Fu, you have been bringing joy into our lives, and there is surely a time that God will bring the Greatest Joy to you.

Grace, recently I couldn't see you so frequently, but every time I saw you, I just felt so happy. I remember one of our talks which was quite a long time ago, in the talk some of your words touched me so deeply that I don't think I will forget. I was asking why you went to Expo service alone while we were all at Jurong West, you told me that you went to Expo to worship God, and it doesn't matter so much of where you go, since putting God first is the essence of our faith.
I was and am still so touched by these words, I guess you must have forgotten these words but they indeed touched and impacted me a lot. Grace, all the best for your work and life here in Singapore. It's indeed not easy to live in a foreign country and especially you are a girl. Will always pray for you.

Xiu Wen, in the Bible Study today, just know that you were not feeling well today, and could tell that you were quite tired and weak now. I know you are a strong woman of God, and it really makes me worry about you to see you being so sick, but I know God is doing the healing right now and soon the Xiu Wen I know will come back to us, happily, energetically and with a cheerful heart containing 100% pure love for God. It has been so great knowing you, so young but doing so many great work for God. I wish one day I can be like you, doing great work for God. Also, I always like to talk to you and really thank you for sharing with me about our God.
Xiu Wen, God bless your study in NTU, and I believe through you, more and more people will feel the love of God, more and more people will enter into the kingdom of God! Keep on shinning for Him!

I like attending prayer meetings, I never prayed so much for others before. And thank God, I have fulfilled my vow of attending all the MPMs.

Thank You, LORD, that I can also take all these words down, to keep they as good courage in my future life.
From all these, I know God loves me and strengthens me everyday.

11/06-Morning Prayer Meeting

--The more tired I am in my body, the stronger I am in my spirit.

The second last day of these 5 day's prayer meeting, and I feel grateful to see some same faces early in the prayer meeting everyday.
And of course, Ps. Kong, Ps. Derrick and many worship leaders were all the time with us.

Today I spent my time praying for some sisters.

Qi Hui, you are a wonderful sister that I always feel happy to be with. I indeed shared the great joy of your good results in NTU, and I am looking forward to seeing you shining even more brilliantly after your SOT, brighter than all the stars you like. God bless your next stage of life after NTU. Jia you QH, keep things up and continue to be excellent. I'm proud of being your friend.

Verona, I'm always thankful for you, it is you brought me to the house of God. Thank you, verona. I will not forget the Easter service you brought me to in 2008; I will not forget the 1st prayer you prayed for me through phone; and I will not forget the changes you have brought into my life. I pray God bless you greatly in your SOT; I pray God will always reveal Himself whenever you faithfully seek His face; I pray God will use you more and mightily to be the Light of the world, Salt of the earth.

Isabelle, I saw a kind of faith in you that touches my heart. It's simple but great, it's strong and pure. You are also thoughtful, and I pray God be with you in every minutes and seconds, bringing peace to your work, pouring joy to your family, and building up your spirit everyday.It's really good to walk in the kingdom of God together with you. God bless you, Isabelle.

Amanda, it has been sometimes that I couldn't spend time and share with you due to your busy work. I like busy life and I am always happy to see friends living a busy and fruitful life. But I really miss the time having you around. I put all my trust in God, and I always thank God for every little good things in my life. Thus I indeed believe God is there, loving you, protecting you, helping you with your work, helping you to arrange your time and life, helping you in every little things in your daily life. Really hope to see you more, to spend more time together sharing, praising and worshipping our God. Please take good care of your health, God bless you, Amanda.

Youth Camp

Indeed.... we have all grown up and being in an adult cell group certainly has its perks (benefits). :) But!!!! sadly this year.. only me and Shella attended the youth camp session tonight.

you know what is the best thing in youth camp i appreciate... it's not the energy in the Praise and worship.. or the omph of the speakers... or the hyped up atmosphere where youths fellowship. it's their child like faith. and simple love for God.

when i see youths worship when pastor was ministering and praying.. i was reminded of myself in the past.. so hungryy and so thirsty for that annointing and touch. i felt lonely in the past. but i was clothed with warmth of friendship. all these things poured back into me. Pastor began to share during altar call.. please dont be in a hurry. i want you all to be ministered.. don't be a Martha and forget the love Mary had. Sometimes its hard to find balance between work and play. Betweeb Ministry time and Quiet time. Between Work/Studies/Friends outside or church. Choices. but when God's love come... bam! we are hit to the floor.

When pastor prayed for all of us... i got reminded of all this friends. And truly sometimes in life we will go through hard times.. uncertain times... but these times are God-moments. It's where we build our faith and wisdom.. and learn to wait upon the Lord. Pastor Kong once said we can be victims of circumstance or victors of it.. depending on your reaction to the situation. so God brought back all the sweet memories of victories and love. I feel so blessed to be serving God and loving Him! it's an awesome experience.

Worship always out of serving. :) we serve because we love.

10/06-Morning Prayer Meeting

--I am not gonna be troubled by those small things.

7am-->655am-->645am, the time I reached church these 3 days.

Praise the Lord, I am doing better and better on my punctuality.

75mins of MPM = 35mins praying in tongues + 20mins building our own altars + 20mins praying for church.

With peace in my heart, I prayed for Elaine, Vic and Shella this morning.

Elaine, have good health in your first winter, give your best to prepare your coming exams and continue to do great work for Him. God has indeed placed you as a wonderful role model in my life, and God will surely bless you extraordinarily in these best two years of your life. Jia you, Elaine.

Vic, all the best for your coming Boston trip. I believe God will surely open up your eyes, broaden your experience and enlarge your capacity, throughout this 6-week's trip. Also, I prayed for you and Kenneth. Really, I prayed that God bless both of you, thus we may see a happiest new family in a near future. :-)

Shella, how are you feeling now? Please rest more and well, let God do the healing slowly but steadily. Let's put our trust in God, let God release your pain and bring even more joy into your life. Shella, indeed you are a blessing to the people around you, your warm heart, your big smile, your spontaneous songs (they are indeed nice), your music talent, your understanding, some of your jokes and a lot more...Please keep them up. God bless you, in your study, family, spiritual life, daily life and I shall not forget, your relationship. :-)

09/06-Morning Prayer Meeting

--Indeed, when I put all my trust in God, I felt exceeding peace in heart.

Second day of MPM, started at 645am, good to have Ps. Kong with us again.

We prayed for the coming celebrity weekend services, new church building, every member's finance at this tough time, Sun's health and our individual prayer requests.

It's always great to pray, to worship our Lord, to lift His name high.

Again a few thoughts came to me when I came before God.

1. Thank You, God, that I could open my eyes early in the morning, come to Your House, seek Your face. Thank You, God, for bringing me to another beautiful day.

2. All the time, God is so willing to bless us; at the same time, I believe God will be well pleased to see His children step out, follow His way, shine for Him, and lift His name high.

3. I shall glorify God with my hands, instead of just asking blessings from God's hands.

4. On the way of seeking truth in my life, I shall just keep on walking. Either through the truth, or through the false. One day, God will surely reveal the real truth to me. I will never stop walking on.

5. I feel I shall have a bigger vision in God's kingdom. Sometimes focusing on the details won't help. A big vision from God; a big vision for God.

6. Everyone is equal before God. We are all of same importance to God, we are all precious children to God. Being more capable in certain fields never makes one superior over another.

08/06-Morning Prayer Meeting

----Indeed, without prayer, I feel my life dries up.

I always feel I shall put more effort to explore the kingdom of God, all the time.

5 days morning prayer meetings, here is the time to lift up my spiritual life, I will not let this precious chance slip away from me.

Praise the Lord, for everything in my life.
Thank You Jesus, for being my Savior.
Thank You Holy Spirit, for being my Friend guiding me daily.

A few thoughts came to me during MPM.

1. There is no point if, in my life, I achieve great success, but forget to love God.

2. Comparing the love He gives me, how little my love for Him is. And I still let Him down sometimes. God is so loving, Jesus is so loving, and I shall give my best to follow Jesus, to be more like Jesus.

3. God is all the time willing to heal us, to do miracles in our lives, it's just us that are not faithful enough to receive His blessings.

4. Let everything be done according to God's will. Everything that we care and God cares about.

Indeed, I am precious before God; at the same time, I am no one before God.

Pool day

Sunday we had fun playing pool! :) here are some pics of the pool game! :) Most of the friends we met that day were Yuan Jun's very good friends. And they are really quiter good in the game... playing with them is a pretty humbling experience for me.. and for some of us. Nevertheless i think all of us had fun! We celebrated Lyn's birthday too! (see 1st pic) God is indeed a good God... and i think the fellowship was really fruitful... We have at least 6 friends that day.... ( i have chatted to about 6 of them... ) and estimated.. we have about 9-10 friends. PTL... really hope to get to know them more personally.

Outreach can be fun. Outreach isn't just abt evangelism.. it's about knowing people.. how they live their lives.. and getting out of ya routine cruise in your boat to enter their boat. one such friend i met is Hemi - a PhD student who was coached in Billard in China. She taught me the stance.. the hand grip and the way to shoot. Like i said it's a very humbling exp... but its fun! wish more of u guys were there to meeet them.

Let's get into the lives of people. W116 is a family that is [C]onsecrated and [K]ingdom-minded. And we have the heart of people in our lives! :)

Fellowship

haha this blog was rarely updated...

but i shall share some good experience i have! :D

After exams... i was kinda lost of what to do! its like after u chiong chiong chiong... den suddenly its over. :O that kinda feeling. But i enjoy the fellowship with the brothers!! :) we went abt fellowshipping and eating TAO HUI on Sun after svc at Jurong Point.... Den we went to game shop and see some cool games. You know after entering the shop... you can see Quang Yee's face totally lit up!!! haha i guess we guys will always be guys. We love recreational acitivities. Chong calls this "my civil (short-form for civilian) life".

And yesterday was REALLY FUN!!! :) :) We went to play left 4 Dead.. an adrenaline-pumping zombie killing game! Currently i think one of the hottest thing in the gaming world is zombies. With games like Resident Evil 5, Silent Hill : Origins, and now Left 4 Dead (L4D), we take battling the forces of evil into virtual reality. Totally cool! After which, we went to watch Star Trek.. man that show's mindblowing! for all fans of stars and the unknown ( looks at stormy ), you must catch this movie. Its not just action packed. it has a really good story line. to let you have a feel of what im talking abt .. check the youtube below!

okok im very hyped! haha but i really miss fellowship. When im doing my job and studies.. times really tough. i cant afford time to go up to play. and chill out with frens. i guess some of you might know what i mean ... but it's really refreshing to fellowship. fellowship should always be fun. but in reality.. it's true not everything's fun at the beginning. But you know what frens.. God made everything to be good. and if there is one thing that means more that anything... more than cattles in a thousand hills... or more than L.V., Coach, Kate Spade bags, more than L4D, Star wars or star trek... it's relationship. and fellowship is the cornerstone of that. Eventually, fellowship will be good i feel. especially if u found someone close to ya heart.

Let's fellowship more with each other and also with everyone in Cell group. Cultivate a lifestyle of fellowship brothers and sisters! take care everyone.

I love the songs in this blog! I can just leave it on anytime and have a good time worshiping God! Good job guys for creating this music playlist! :)

Been going to some very nice beaches in Adelaide, and never a time did I stop marveling about the beauty of nature, the sea and the sky..........

God is such a wonderful Creator! And imagine the truth that we are created in His very own image! :)

I always remember this illustration that Dr Bernard gave many years ago when CHC was still in Hollywood theatre... He used a few coins and told us this. When you are walking along a street, and you see a few coins scattered on the floor. You would think that someone must have dropped them accidentally... But, if you are walking along the street, and you see that there is a stack of coins, placed nicely on the floor. You would know that someone had intentionally left it there...

The fact that the world can be in such an organised structure, the sky and the sea being so beautiful... The truth is that Someone had created these... and it is never by accident that they exist by themselves! How true isn't it?

No one is here as a result of an "accident"... We have a very clear purpose why we exist today! Find that purpose and fulfill it... for the glory and joy of the LORD! :)

1. My next study period starting 27 April. Pray that I will be able to follow through the lectures & tutorials… and have enough preparation for exams in June! I wanna do well!

2. Pray for breakthrough in understanding Macroeconomics! It is killing me now!

3. I will continue to sow into people's lives and bring few more people to Chirst!

4. W116 and EC zone will continue to grow in strength and depth!

Qi Hui:
1. To complete my FYP report by beginning April (5april)

2. To be able to manage my time between FYP, SOT, tuition and teaching jobs

3. To grow to be closer to God everyday

Friends: suying, juening, mooey, zongye, zongyao, kk, rina, churou, jessica, wuduo, yihui,

Verona:
1. God can give Qi hui and me greater wisdom, anointing and grace during our days in SOT.

2. I can gain abundance grace, mercy and favor from Prof Soon Ing Yann, Reju and my moderator for my FYP. I can get at least a B+ for my FYP

3. Financial Blessing. God will provide me the money to pay my SOT fees, braces. AND I will live in abundance and be a blessing to the people around me.

4. Friends salvation. All the friends we pray and fast for will come for Easter service and receive salvation.

Yuan Jun:
1. Walk closely with God in daily life.

2. Have strong physical health and energy to prepare well for coming final exams starting from 16th April (Biomechanics), 17th April (Maths), 23rd Aprl (Physics of Spirits), 24th April (Bioelecticity)

3. Gain more idea about ministry in church.

Yen leng:
1) Smooth checkup during these periods of my IVF cycle 2, minimum spending on all the test required during the checkup.

2) Friends responding to upcoming Easter invitation and come with an open heart.

3) Unity & understanding in the work place.

4) Able to cope between project & daily work and able to complete every task given and doing it with excellence.

5) Salvation of my family & relatives

6) Unity & love within W116 and everyone reaching out to at least 1 fren during this Easter.

Jason Ng
1) Pray for wisdom and anointing in leading the cell group. To have spirit-filled and be led by Holy Spirit in doing of all work in cell group and in life.

2) Pray for creative ideas in planning for cell group outreaches, and meetings to retain friends and help integrate friends into the W116 family.

3) Pray for wisdom in studies. To be able to be discipline and time-efficient in studying for the papers. Not be distracted so as to prepare for upcoming Exams in May.

4) To get a tuition job with average pay of $30 per hour for Secondary school students. Teaching on mainly A / E Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Pray to have 2 of such assignments.

5) Get a new portable laptop that is light, durable and cheap.

6) Able to have discipline to have a good quiet time every night. To have a good time of communion and worship.

7) Family Salvation and blessing.
-Dad get a new better job with less harsh working condition. Prefably a Culinary job.
-2 younger brothers do well for their mid term exam.
-Mom to have a good health while juggling between jobs and taking care of household.
-Family saved!
